Red Cabbage Recipe

This old-time favorite is a perfect complement to pork. Makes six servings.

  1. Cut the cabbage into quarters and cut out the tough core parts. Slice thin.
  2. Peel and core the apple, then slice it.
  3. Melt the butter in a frying pan and add the onion. Saute for one minute.
  4. Add the cabbage and apple and cook for five minutes more while stirring.
  5. Add salt, pepper, and brown sugar. Stir.
  6. Add the water and vinegar and cook over low heat for 30 minutes while stirring.
  7. Serve.
