Red Cabbage Recipe
This old-time favorite is a perfect complement to pork.

Ingredients
- 1 red cabbage
- 1 Granny Smith apple
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 0.5 tablespoon salt
- freshly ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
Directions
- Cut the cabbage into quarters and cut out the tough core parts. Slice thin.
- Peel and core the apple, then slice it.
- Melt the butter in a frying pan and add the onion. Saute for one minute.
- Add the cabbage and apple and cook for five minutes more while stirring.
- Add salt, pepper, and brown sugar. Stir.
- Add the water and vinegar and cook over low heat for 30 minutes while stirring.
- Serve.
